TOP TEN GREAT HOMEWORK SITES

Back to school means homework, homework and more homework. With easy access to endless amounts of information, the Internet allows students to discover anything - anatomy, geography, algebra.

We surfed the Web to create the GWI Top 10 Great Homework Sites list. From reference tools to Internet safety tips, these sites will guide both parents and children to exciting, resourceful sites.

1. Ask Jeeves for Kids - www.ajkids.com
A “safe” Web search tool that lets kids ask questions in everyday language.Content is reviewed by an askjeeves.com editor and only G-rated pages are accessible.

2. The American Librarian’s Association - www.ala.org/parentspage
Includes “What Parents Should Know” and 50+ great web sites for kids.

3. NASA Quest - www.quest.arc.nasa.gov
Meet the people of NASA and learn about the national space program.

4. Discoveryschool.com - www.discoveryschool.com
Organized by school subjects, including social studies, science, math and english. Features a live animal cam from national zoos and several geography learning tools.

5. RefDesk - www.refdesk.com
Extremely useful reference site for high school students or adults with tools including dictionary, Quick Research tool, Fast Facts 2001 and much more.

Interactive science exploration site.

A great site for high school kids to research Time Magazine’s 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century.

Kids can learn about the FBI and its purpose.

10. Netmom - www.netmom.com
The site for parents and kids to explore together. Lists 100 hot sites for families including interactive artistic sites, such as The Art Room.
