CUSTOMIZING YOUR BROWSER

Having trouble keeping track of all of your family's favorite websites? Tired of websites that have text that is too small? Can't figure out how to change the page that comes up first when you log on the Internet? The tables below give you the instructions to do all this and more--to make your browser more user-friendly for you and your family.
Bookmarking your Favorite Websites:
How to: Internet Explorer Netscape
Create Folders (maybe one for each family member to use) Favorites => Organize Favorites => Create Folder => Type folder name => Click Close Bookmarks => File => New Folder => Type folder name => Click OK
Add Your Favorite Websites to Your Folder Start at site to add, Favorites => Add to Favorites => Highlight your folder => Click Create In => Click OK Bookmarks => File Bookmarks => Choose folder => Click
Organize Your Favorite Websites Favorites => Organize Favorites => delete, move and rename items => Click Close Bookmarks => Edit Bookmarks
Delete: highlight item => Edit =>Delete; Move: click and drag item from folder to folder
Adjusting your Browser Settings:
How To Adjust: Internet Explorer Netscape Navigator
Text Size View => Text Size => Click on your choice View => Hit either "Increase Font" or "Decrease Font" (repeat until desired size is reached)
Fonts (Type Style) Tools => Internet Options => General Tab => Accessibility => Check to ignore both font styles and types specified on Web pages => Click OK=> Fonts => Highlight your selections => Click OK twice Edit => Preferences => Appearance => Fonts => Select Fonts from drop-down lists => Choose "Use my defined defaults" => Click OK
Colors (Of Text, Background and Links) Tools => Internet Options => General Tab => Accessibility => Check to ignore colors specified on Web pages => Colors => Make your selections => Click OK twice Edit => Preferences => Appearance => Colors => make your selections => Choose "Always use my colors" => Click OK
Default Start Page (Website that comes up when you start browser) Tools => Internet Options => General Tab => in Home Page section either type address, select to use current page on your screen, or the browser default => Click OK Edit => Preferences => Navigator => select last page visited or home page => type address in "Home Page" section => Click OK
Toolbars (which ones show) View => Toolbars => Click on choice to select (if no checkmark) or eliminate (currently checked) View => Show => Click on choice to select (if no checkmark) or eliminate (currently checked)
Customize Toolbar View => Toolbars => Customize => Click icon to highlight => Click "Add" or "Remove" => Click Close Edit => Preferences => Appearance => Choose whether to show pictures and text, pictures only, or text only => Hit OK
