| 6. Should I be concerned about getting viruses through email? Yes, you should be concerned as email is the primary way that most people get viruses on their computer. To help prevent this from happening, GWI provides virus protection with your Internet access account, all you have to do is turn it on. For maximum protection against viruses, and because email is not the only way you can get a virus, you should also be using an anti-virus program to scan your computer files and performing a weekly or bi-weekly live update. Running the live update is important because it provides you with the latest virus definitions. Not catching and deleting viruses can cause a loss of data and unforeseen expenses if you have to hire someone to format your computer and reinstall all your software. |
|
| 7. How long does GWI store my email? If you use an email client like Outlook Express, Eudora, etc. to get your email, the email is saved to your computer's hard drive and is saved until you delete it from your computer. If you have your email client set up to save your email on the server or use WebMail, GWI will delete all email that is on the server (read or unread) after 180 days. If you save your messages in WebMail, you should download them to your computer within 180 days of message receipt or they will be lost. Also, if all email messages in your Inbox remain unread for more than 120 days, they will be removed. We suggest all important emails be saved locally. |
