HOW TO SEND & RECEIVE EMAIL WITH OUTLOOK EXPRESS

Is your Outlook Express set up? If not, go to our Software Set-up Section first. Choose version 4.0 or 5.0 depending on which one you have. If so, continue with these instructions.

Open Outlook Express. Receiving is the easy part. Assuming you are on-line when opening Outlook Express, it will check to see if you have mail waiting on our mail server. You can click on the Send/Recv button as well at anytime while on-line to Send or Receive. Before you can send you must create a message first.

First start by clicking on New Mail or New Message. You will get the following screen.

Your email address will automatically appear in the From: field. In the To: field type the email address of the person you are sending to. Type something for the subject (although not necessary). Now type your message in the body of the email. Remember, you can get from field to field by either clicking the mouse pointer in the desired field or using the tab key on your keyboard. When you have completed your message go to the next screen shot.

Now that your message is complete you are ready to send. Simply click on the Send button. This screen will disappear and you will be taken back to the main screen of Outlook Express. See the next screen shot.

Depending on how you have your Options set, Outlook Express may send this message immediately or queue it to be sent. If you have your messages set to queue you will see a number in parenthesis next to Outbox. This indicates how many messages are waiting to go out. You can either wait for Outlook Express to send it automatically or you can click on the Send/Recv button. *Note - Outlook will only send automatically if you have it set to do so.

That's it!
