Setting up and connecting your broadband modem to your computer requires just the few simple steps detailed below. For more detailed set-up instructions, please refer to the information provided with your modem, or use the attached instructions applicable for your modem as listed below:
If you have any difficulties, contact us and we will walk you through the steps.
Note: An Ethernet (Network) card is needed to connect your computer to your broadband modem. Before you install your modem, please verify that an Ethernet card is installed in your computer and that it is functioning properly.
Step 1 - The package you received from GWI contains everything you need to set up your modem. Please verify that you have the following items in your package:
- One (1) broadband modem
- One (1) power cable
- One (1) telephone cable
- One (1) Ethernet cable
- Two (2) DSL filters
Step 2 - Plug one end of the telephone cable into a telephone wall jack and the other end into the Phone/WAN port of the broadband modem.
- Do not use a telephone cable longer than the one provided. If a longer cable is needed, it is preferable to run a longer Ethernet cable (cat5).
- Do not place the broadband modem on top of the computer.
Step 3 - Plug one end of the Ethernet cable (cat5) into the computer’s Ethernet card and the other end into the Ethernet port of the broadband modem.
Step 4 - Plug the power cable into an electrical outlet and into the Power port of the broadband modem.
