USING YOUR TELEPHONE CALLING FEATURES
Below you will find easy instructions on using the following features for your GWI telephone service:

Customer Self-Care Portal
Many of the features below can be set up using our online Customer Self-Care Portal. Simply go to https://selfcare.gwi.net, put in your 10-digit phone number (Directory Number) and your GWI username as your password.
Caller ID
To use Caller ID, you will need either a Caller ID device or a phone with Caller ID capability. This feature will automatically display the telephone number on the device after the second ring. You can also get a name display option with our Calling Options Package.
Call Waiting
You will hear the call waiting tone while on the phone. Alert the person you are talking to that you have another call. To take the second call, press the switch hook or flash button. Use the same method to return to the original caller. You can switch back and forth as many times as you like.
Call Waiting with Caller ID
Automatically displays the telephone number of the incoming caller on a Caller ID device while you are on another call. A name display option is available with our Calling Options Package.
Call Forwarding
This feature allows you to forward incoming calls to another number of your choice.
To activate: Lift the receiver and after you hear a dial tone, press *72. Listen for a second dial tone then dial the number to which your calls are to be forwarded. That will prompt ringing on your GWI line to the forwarded phone. You will need to pick up that line for the forward to complete.
To deactivate: Lift the receiver and after you hear a dial tone, press *73. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Busy Call Forwarding
This feature allows you to forward incoming calls to another number if your line is busy.
To activate: dial *90
To deactivate: dial *91
Please note: This feature is available only with our Calling Options Package.
Delayed Call Forwarding
This feature allows you to forward incoming calls to another phone number if the line is not answered within 36 seconds (this is a default setting that you can change through the Customer Self-Care Portal).
To activate: dial *92
To deactivate: dial *93

Call Forwarding-Remote Access
You can change your forwarding number by calling in from another line (other than your home phone line) by calling 207-699-4005. You will need to have a PIN set up beforehand to use this feature.

Calling Number & Name Delivery Blocking
This feature allows you to block your name and number when making a call to someone who has a caller ID device. To activate, simply dial *67 before making your call. You must do this before each call you make.
Call Trace
Use this feature to trace a harrassing call for reporting to the authorities. There is an additional charge of $2.00 each time you use this feature.
1. Dial *57 right after the call. When you hear "customer initiated trace" follow the instructions and wait for confirmation.
2. Document phone number of the caller, date and time, and number of calls.
3. Call GWI right after the call is traced.
4. File a complaint with the police.
5. Police will subpeona information from GWI.
6. GWI delivers the information to the authorities.
Simultaneous Ring
This feature enables ringing to another number at the same time that it rings to your regular number. You will need to use the Customer Self-Care Portal to set up the numbers to call.
To enable: dial *361
To disable: dial *362

Three Way Calling
This feature allows you to have a conference call with two other people.
To use: Put the existing call on hold by hitting the flash button. Dial the third party. When the third party answers, a private conversation may be had before making the three way connection. To connect all parties, hit the flash button once again.
To disconnect the third party: Hit the flash button. Only the original party will remain on the line.
Using Voice Mail

You
can tell you have messages in voicemail if when you pick up your phone
you hear a stutter tone before a dial tone. Below are directions on
using and setting up your voicemail.

To Access Your Mailbox:
|
- Dial (207) 699-4000 or *99 from your home phone
- Enter your PIN, then press # if calling from the phone your voice mail is assigned to. OR If using Fast Login and accessing from your home phone no entry is required. OR Enter your telephone number if calling from a remote phone.
- If requested, enter your PIN followed by the # key. Your PIN will be a default code of "000000" until you set up your voicemail from your home phone.
- Main Menu:
- Press 1 to play messages.
- Press 2 to send a message.
- Press 3 to exit mailbox and logon as a different subscriber.
- Press 4 to change mailbox settings.
- Press 5 to manage your erased messages.
- Press 0 for more help.
- Press * to exit voicemail.

Changing Your Mailbox Settings

Press 4, then press the # key until you hear the option you want to change.
Greetings:
- Press 0 - To change your greetings.
- Press 1 - For all calls.
- Press 2 - For out of hours.
- Press * - To exit.
- Press # - To skip to the next option.
PIN/Fast Login:
- Press 0 - To change your options.
- Press 1 - To change your PIN.
- Press 2 - To change your skip PIN feature.
- Press 3 - To change your fast login feature.

Setting Up Your Mailbox
|

When you sign in for the first time, you must setup your mailbox. This can only be done from your home phone.
First-time sign-in involves three steps:
- Changing your PIN
- You will be prompted to enter a new PIN
- You will be asked to then confirm your new PIN
- Recording your greeting
- You will be prompted to record your greeting
- It will be played back for you
- To change it, press 0
- To keep it, press *
- Recording your recorded name
- You will be prompted to record your name
- It will be played back for you
- To change it, press 0
- To keep it, press * and you will be directed to the main menu
