GWI is seeking a Field Services Technician will perform customer facing functions that primarily include the installation of fiber optic drop cables, optical network terminals, wireless gateways and voice services for residential customers.

Requirements of the Field Services Technician:

    • Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass and maintain DOT medical examination.
    • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
    • One year of relevant field experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in telecommunications.
    • Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), training provided.
    • Must have the ability to distinguish colors (required for fiber optic cable splicing).
    • Flagging certification is required, training provided if needed.
    • Able to speak effectively and professionally to customers and peers.
    • Field data collection and data entry skills using a smartphone or tablet.
    • Experience working on extension ladders and with hand tools and power tools.
    • Ability to follow and understand organizational installation standards.

Responsibilities of the Field Services Technician:

    • Installing new Fiber Optic drop cable and fiber enclosure.
    • Fusion Splicing fiber optic cable at fiber enclosure (side of home).
    • Installation and configuration of fiber optic network terminal (ONT) and associated data services.
    • Installation of customer facing Wi-Fi router/gateway.
    • Installation of residential voice services.
    • Troubleshooting in-home issues with wireless networks managed by the organization.
    • Identifying signal impairments beyond the scope of the installation (limited to multiport service terminal), to be repaired by L3+ Technicians.
    • Perform flagging duties as required to facilitate Fiber Optic Cable Installation or repair.
    • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency dispatch situations.

Field Services Supervisor

GWI is seeking a Field Services Supervisor to oversee, mentor and train Field Engineers and Field Technicians and is expected to perform installation and repair work as needed.

Requirements of the Field Services Supervisor:

    • Associate of Science in Business, Management, Computer Science, or related field,
    • 5 years of field supervision experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Valid driver’s license required.
    • High level of professionalism for working with members of other departments.
    • Positive, unflappable style, able to coach and encourage others.
    • Experience with telecommunications environment installation work and facilities management.
    • Manage multiple projects, prioritize, and have strong organizational skills.
    • Knowledgeable in fiber splicing, reading fiber splice designs and troubleshooting fiber issues.
    • Experience working on extension ladders and with power tools.
    • Flagging certification is required, training provided if needed.

Responsibilities of the Field Services Supervisor:

    • Ensures that all field services personnel are trained in all aspects of their job.
    • Ensures that all customer interactions are professional and meet quality and performance goals.
    • Helps as necessary to front-line personnel on critical issues.
    • Manages the On-call function, ensures coverage and backs up field staff as part of the escalation path.
    • Manage fiber contractor resources to complete installation work.
    • Compiles data and writes reports for management on a regular basis.
    • Contribute and support budgetary needs for the field team.
    • Create and maintain safety standards and protocols.
    • Maintain installation material inventory and stock levels.
    • Assist the fiber engineering team with the following functions: pole gap analysis, site data collection, and construction completion audits.
    • Customer focus: strong sense of urgency regarding customer issues and communication.
    • Supervisory focus: able to ensure that members of the team are working effectively and complying with company and department procedures.
